- Database / DNS Problems 23 May 13
- Update 10:39 AM -
Service to mysql1.namesco.net and DNS management has now been restored but we are continuing to carefully monitor the situation very carefully.
We apologise for any inconvenience this issue may have caused.
Some customers with a MySQL database on the server mysql1.namesco.net may currently be experiencing problems accessing it.
This may mean that any websites which use a database on that server could currently be offline.
Additionally, customers may also be experiencing problems updating DNS records in their Online Control Panel.
We are working to resolve these problems as a priority and apologise for any inconvenience they may be causing.
- Scheduled Maintenance - FTP, POP3/IMAP and HTTP 23 May 13
- Update 24 May 13 9:03 AM -
This work completed as planned and we thank customers for their patience and understanding.
Tonight, beginning at 23:00 we will be conducting some routine maintenance operations on our load balancers.
This will mean that customers will be unable to collect their emails via POP3/IMAP (although emails will continue to be delivered to mailboxes during this time).
Additionally, any websites hosted on our shared Linux cluster will be temporarily inaccessible and customers will also not be able to connect to the webspace via FTP.
We expect this maintenance to last for no more than one hour and will update customers via this notification once the work has been completed.
We thank customers for their understanding and patience during these essential maintenance operations.
- Temporary inability to access Joomla 13 May 13
- Update 14 May 13 9:36 AM -
Whilst the underlying cause of this issue is still ongoing, we recognise that preventing customers from accessing their Joomla administration panel is causing some inconvenience.
As such, we have now re-enabled access but customers may still experience problems trying to log in if they a) attempt the process too quickly or b) there are other customers logged into their Joomla administration panels at the same time.
If customers are trying to log into Joomla and see a message about too many logins then we recommend that they wait a few minutes and then try again.
Any customers who use the Joomla content management system on their sites will currently be unable to access their administration area. This is usually located at http://sitename/administrator
This is a temporary measure and we will lift this restriction as soon as we possibly can.
Please note that the sites themselves will still display - it is purely just the Joomla administration panel that will be inaccessible.
We apologise to affected customers for any inconvenience this may be causing.
- Telephone System Down 03 May 13
- Update 4:49 PM -

We will continue working on this over the weekend and will update this notification on Monday morning with the latest status.
We are still liaising with BT about this and hope to have this resolved as soon as possible.
Our teams are available for support via tickets in the interim and we apologise for any inconvenience this may be causing.
- Load Issue on Shared Hosting 11 Apr 13
- Update 12 Apr 13 9:31 AM -
Our Hosting platform is currently stable and there are no reported issues. Our System Administrators have been working hard to develop bespoke attack mitigation and the new procedures are delivering results.
Due to the complex, changing and global nature of this issue which impacts many web hosting providers, we will continue to closely monitor our systems and ensure that service remains acceptable.
Despite no reported issues for some time, we will leave this notification open until further notice.
Update 7:48 PM -503 Errors
We are continuing to monitor the situation and will update you with any information when we can. We thank you again for your patience.
Some customers may be experiencing intermittent 503 errors on Hosted sites. We would like to apologise for this error and reassure you that our System Administrators are focused on improving service performance.
The issue may have arisen due to an increase in exploited Wordpress/Joomla websites and this is a global problem being experienced by hosting companies driven by attackers intent on hijacking exploited sites.
The impact of this global attack on hosting companies is severely increased load on shared web hosting. We are however continuing to investigate the intermittent issues reported by customers to rule out all possible causes.
We are working hard to address this problem by carrying out the actions below:
- We continue to identify and have disabled infected sites.
- We have mechanisms in place to determine if infected scripts are running.
- We have performed filesystem scans to find infected sites.
- We have rate limited Wordpress/Joomla login attempts
- We have blocked the most common attack vector
We will continue to work to combat these issues and will keep you posted. Many thanks for your patience as we deal with this issue.
- Scheduled ADSL Maintenance: Sunday 7th April 05 Apr 13
-
This Sunday morning, between the hours of 04:00 and 05:00, we will be conducting some essential maintenance operations on parts of our ADSL network.
This may result in some customers' connections being dropped but affected customers should be able to reconnect immediately. Most routers will do this automatically but, in some cases, it may be necessary to restart the router manually.
In the unlikely event that some customers have lost their connection during this maintenance period and find themselves unable to connect, they should power down their router for fifteen minutes and then turn it back on.
We apologise for any inconvenience that these essential maintenance operations may cause and thank customers for their patience and understanding.
- Scheduled Maintenance UK Network Connectivity 04 Feb 13
- We will be performing maintenance to upstream transit connections to one supplier between 07:00 – 08:00 on Wednesday 6th February. Throughout this period services will operate as normal using other connections to this supplier and our alternative suppliers, however there is a small increased risk of short (up to 30 second) pauses while traffic re-routes around the network.
